America’s Music Legacy – Soul DVD

Review by Gary Hill

This is a concert from 1983 and while the staging and other aspects have a tendency to be a little silly or dated, the performances make it all worthwhile. With such legends as James Brown, Gladys Knight and the Pips and Ben E. King sharing the stage, can you really expect anything less? All in all, this is one of the more captivating releases in this series and just plain fun.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2010  Volume 6 at lulu.com/strangesound.
