David Byrne

Ride Rise Roar BluRay

Review by Gary Hill

David Byrne is a creative guy. There’s no question about that. He’s one of those people who thinks outside of the box. The tour on which this documentary is centered found Byrne creating musical performances from a wide range of his musical history (including Talking Heads material) and combining it with dancers and all kinds of intriguing staging to create a unique experience. This film combines interviews with footage from the tour to give a new depth of understanding. It’s highly recommended for fans of Byrne, but also for anyone interested in ways popular music’s scope can be stretched. This is a cool documentary about a cool tour from an inspired artist.
