Owl City
Live From Los Angeles BluRay
Review by Gary Hill
This BluRay captures pop act Owl City (basically Adam Young) in a live performance. The interesting thing is, the blend of music here, and particularly the symphonic bits, mean this can qualify as progressive rock. It’s arguably some of the best of the modern pop music out there. But, that also means it’s not without the type of issues that are so prevalent in this type of music. While a lot of this music does appear to be played live, autotune is used on a lot of the vocals. In addition, some of the instruments seen being played on the stage don’t really appear to be heard in the sound. It really seems like a lot of the “live” audio track might be canned. Still, for the pop music kind of crowd, this music is far above and beyond the average artist. The video and audio (other than the audio questions mentioned previously) are both quite good.
