Muddy Waters
& The Rolling Stones Live At The Checkerboard Lounge, Chicago DVD
Review by Gary Hill
The Rolling Stones showed up at a little club on the South side of Chicago to jam with Muddy Waters and others. This is a video chronicle of that show. I have to say that the equal billing of Waters and the Stones on the cover is a little deceptive since the Stones show up a ways into the set and Jagger doesn’t even perform on all the songs. All that aside, though, this is awesome. The performances are loose and full of character and charm. This was about the musicians playing almost as much as it was about the audience. Only a handful of people were able to see this show in person. Finally there’s a chance for the rest of us to experience something incredibly special.
