The Beatles
Their Golden Age DVD
Review by Gary Hill
This documentary basically chronicles The Beatles from the start of their era as superstars through to the end, with a little bit of coverage of the post Beatles lives of each member. Most of this is achieved through lots of archival footage hooked together with narrated segments. It’s interesting and there are some cool bits of film in this thing. Unfortunately, they must not have had permission to use The Beatles music so the soundtrack is composed of these little bits of Beatles-like music playing in the backdrop over and over again. While cool at the start, eventually those bits make the whole thing seem a bit tedious and boring. Still, this is a good release. It could have been better, that’s the only issue.
