The Stray Cats
Live at Montreux 1981 DVD
Review by Gary Hill
This video is quite good. The sound and visual quality are both great. You can’t argue with the performance, either. It’s interesting to me, looking at it in retrospect, how in a lot of ways The Stray Cats remind me at times of The Clash. Of course, the take the Cats deliver on vintage old school rock and roll is more authentic. Watching these guys, it’s also awesome to see how much energy they exuded and how they controlled the stage. There’s a guest appearance on one song, but otherwise this is just The Stray Cats. I have to say that I like them better in this live telling than on their studio releases. One thing’s for certain, the Stray Cats rocked and this video is highly recommended for all level of fan. It would have been nice to get some bonus features, but as good as this performance is, that would just be icing on the cake.
