The Stranglers
On Stage, On Screen DVD
Review by Gary Hill
Now, more live DVDs should be like this. First off, I love this band’s sound. I know they are considered punk, but they are so much more than that. It’s rock and roll, stripped to the soul like The Kinks. It’s artsy kind of stuff, like The Doors. It’s energetic and it’s fun. The group is just very cool. The thing is, not only do you get a full scale Stranglers show, but there’s a separate acoustic set. That really shows how talented this band is. Then there’s even a feature film (mind you a short) featuring the band. Add those things altogether and this is one classy release. It would be a great introduction to this outfit. For fans, I really can’t recommend it enough.
