The Rolling Stones
From the Vault – Live in Leeds 1982 DVD/CD Set
Review by Gary Hill
This is such a cool set. For starters, it’s a great live performance. When you consider that this was actually filmed for broadcast at the time, that tells you the quality is good. I’ve always said that you can’t really appreciate the Stones fully until you’ve seen them live. Well, this isn’t exactly the same as seeing a show in person, but it comes close to the experience. The set includes a double disc audio set of the concert. The whole thing is just so cool. Rounding out the Stones’ sound we get Ernie Watts on saxophone and Ian Stewart on keys. The concert just grooves without a lot of frills. It’s a rocking set start to finish. The video and audio are both exceptional, too. I can’t rave about this set enough. It’s all class for sure. If you are Stones fan, you must have this. It should be noted, for people with kids or wanting to listen to it at work, this definitely earns some parental advisories. Of course, anyone who has seen the Stones live probably knows to expect that.
