Perhaps for a lot of people the exposure to the story of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen started with the film "Sid and Nancy." This documentary shows a different side of the reality behind the events of that movie. It is accomplished through multiple interviews, archival footage and more. The picture painted of Sid Vicious here is different than his image. According to those who knew him, at his heart, Sid was a vulnerable man with a lot of problems - a softie trying to present himself as some tough guy who didn't care. Nancy Spungen, on the other hand, doesn't have the best image after this documentary. The reality is that we'll never know the actual truth. Even those who were there have some differing ideas and accounts. Human perception is always part of any story, and colors the telling of it. This DVD really does give us some different angles and informs the story in a different ways. The Sid Vicious story is one of those tragic tales of music. It's worth the revisit in a different angle, for certain. This documentary does it justice, too.
