Alan Parsons
The Alan Parsons Project - Turn of a Friendly Card Blu-Ray
Review by Gary Hill
I've included this in the videos section, and therefore not done the usual track by track review because this is a Blu-Ray (in other words a video format). It's not really a video, though. What we get here is the album, in two different audio formats. You can choose from the original mix or a surround sound 5.1 high resolution mix. I think both sound great, but I think I prefer the original mix. Maybe because that's how I'm used to hearing it. While playing there are some playing card graphics that move around. This also includes the type of booklet you expect with a CD. There are four videos as bonuses, though. One is a TV ad for the album. The other three are early music videos for three of the songs on the disc ("Games People Play," "The Gold Bug" and the title track). All in all this makes for an interesting version of a great album. I suppose it's just as well that I'm not doing this track by track because Larry Toering already reviewed the album that way for Music Street Journal.
