The Rise Of Creepersin

The whole genre of horror influenced punk is pretty cool. Like the genre of punk rock, though, there are certain limitations. Unless a band is clever, an album of great songs can become a so-so album because everything sounds too much alike and it seems like one long song. Such is the case here. That’s what really prevents this from rising about the level of good. Although any song taken by itself is quite strong, the whole set just blends together in one giant slab of sound.

Meet Me Out in the Sticks

Frantic graveyard punk, this is a fun one. It’s kind of like The Misfits meet The Cramps.

Bleed For Me
Angry, this is a bit slower and muddier. It definitely earns a parental warning. There’s a lot more old school rock and roll built into it.
Last House on the Left on Mockingbird Lane
Raw, this is much closer to hardcore punk.
Evil Eye
A midtempo death punk number, this is cool, but not all that different from the music that came before.
Dead By Dawn
The main concept here isn’t all that different, but the chorus is extremely catchy.
Lycanthropy
The mix here seems to take on a bit of The Dead Kennedys. It’s a good tune and a change of pace. As the title suggests, it’s about werewolves.
Cleaverland
Here they wander back into the “more of the same” territory. It has its moments, but doesn’t really stand out.
Proceed With Plan 9
This is a good tune, but not really anything special. It’s all starting to sound the same.
Coffin Drop
The vocal hook here is stronger than some of the others and that makes this piece stand above the sea of sameness.
Get Off My Knife
There’s more of an old school rock and roll texture to this and it works better than some of the other music here, rising up from the crowd.
Vasaria Visaria
We’re definitely back into monolithic territory this time around. It’s a good tune, but too much like everything else.
The Hills Have Eyes
It’s a shame that’s there’s not more variety here because this song, taken by itself is quite strong. Amongst all the rest, though, it’s just more of the same.
To Dance With the Dead
Here’s another that’s strong, but just not when put in amongst a bunch of too similar pieces.
