Hawkwind

Prometheus (Single)

Review by Gary Hill

When I got this single in line for review, I didn’t realize that I’ve already reviewed both songs from it on the original album, Blood of the Earth. So, let’s suffice to say that this single is good stuff, but I’ll reference the track reviews from that album review for the sake of consistency.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2014  Volume 2 at lulu.com/strangesound.

Track by Track Review
Prometheus

On the one hand, this is more pure old school psychedelia than anything else I’ve ever heard from Hawkwind. On the other hand, it reminds me in some ways of the first album the band released. It’s an interesting track, but definitely a change from what you’d expect from Hawkwind.

Starshine
An instrumental, this is slow moving and textural, very much in keeping with Hawkwind traditions.
