Lola de Hanna The Other Side Review by Gary Hill With modern rock, world music and more in the mix, this is a wide ranging release. It’s the powerful vocals that sell this more than just about any other component here, though. I like the singing a lot. They work extremely well when layered on top of one another, too. Thin Air This is an amazing song. The percussion on it is quite impressive. Musically it starts in a mellow alternative rock style, but works out to epic metal. It has a definite world music element in the music. The vocals add to that. This is fresh, original and very effective.

A Knack for These... The percussion is really the central musical element here. Multiple layers of vocals are amassed over the top. This song really works quite well, and that’s mostly based on the strength of those vocals. Keyboard layers do get more prominent later, though.

Wings Feeling a bit over-produced, this is more of a mainstream modern pop rock song. It’s good, but I think it would have been better if it had a bit more of a raw arrangement and production.

I Will Follow The percussion is the real driving force to much of this song. There is a more rocking movement later in the piece, though. This definitely works better than the previous one did.

Oh So Gray This is a great tune. It has a bit of a soulful vibe in the vocals. The cut is modern rocking sound. It gets pretty edgy at times.

Ghosts Although there are some other things here at times, this is more or less a piano and voice song. It’s a nice piece that works quite well as a closer.
