Monsters and Miracles

The Silk Road (feat. MRS) digital single

Review by Gary Hill

This is a new single from an act that goes by the name of "Monsters and Miracles." It's set in the vein of Electronic Dance Music (EDM). The single includes the original version and a remix. It should be noted that both versions earn a parental advisory. Monsters and Miracles is basically one guy (Jon Dray Lee).

Track by Track Review
The Silk Road (feat. MRS)
The vocals on this cut have a great soulful grit to them. The music manages to create a classy EDM sound that works between the mellower end of the spectrum and the more powered up concepts. This is a classy example of how this type of sound can be elevated.
The Silk Road (feat MRS) Austin Leeds Remix

While to some degree I think the electronic meddling on this isn't completely effective, adding a second voice to this brings something extra to it. I think I prefer the other version, but it's really pretty close. There is a reference to Freddy Krueger on this. That's a cool touch.
