Progressive Rock CD Reviews

Acidic Base

Tachyon (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

I previously reviewed another single by this act. I landed that one under progressive rock, but said that some might disagree with that decision. The same is true of this one. The thing is, it has a lot in common with the electronic artists of the 1970s, and that music generally gets listed with prog rock. So, this fits. This is an instrumental tune that is very cool.

Track by Track Review
Tachyon
Weird electronic elements bring this into being. While there is a real artificial vibe, there is also something that feels a bit like old-school classical music. It eventually makes its way to a droning element. Then an energized, driving electronic groove enters the fray. There are weird blasts of sound here and there that feel a bit like some kind of computer dissonance. This is very much art music.
