Erich Mrak
No Ways (digital single)
Review by Gary Hill
Erich Mrak has been releasing quite a stream of singles. His music tends to be high quality with a pop and soul sound. While this one is good, it's the first that I thought was over-produced in the vocal department. That nearly sank this one for me, but the music and hooks are strong enough for it to survive that shortcoming. I should note that a lot of modern pop features those over-processed vocals, so people do like them. I just have a hunch that songs like that are going to sound so dated down the road a few years. As I said, this still manages to be effective. It could have been better with a less heavy hand on the processing, though.
