SONI

ft Izzy Austin - Savage (digital single)

Review by Gary Hill

This new single is all class. It has a lot of modern sound, but there are definite classic leanings at its core. It grows and evolves, all in the course of a single. More importantly, it really entertains and shines.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 6. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.

Track by Track Review
Savage
I dig the killer slow groove that opens this tune. There are electronic elements built over the top of a soulful vibe. The vocals bring some real magic to the piece. This has a lot of style and charm. It also has some cool hooks. It's a solid pop rocker that is effective. The dropped back instrumental movement brings some evocative magic to the proceedings. The tune gets quite powerful before it's over.
