Brown Eyed Blue Point of View (digital single) Review by Gary Hill One of two singles from this new Canadian prog band I'm reviewing in this issue, I like this quite a bit. I'm not sure which tune I like more, and they are both quite different from one another. Yet you can tell that they are both from the same act. I suppose Rush is the stereotypical comparison to make for hard rocking proggy bands from Canada, but I do hear some hints of that sound on this piece, but there is a lot of other stuff at play, too. Point of View This powers in, like you entered in the midst of something. There are some processed vocals on this opening section. It drops to a more standard prog arrangement to get into the song proper. The piece really flows and grooves as it begins to explore territory and get moving. This has some particularly powerful moments. I love the guitar and bass interaction on this tune. The energy is great, too. I can make out healthy helpings of Rush, but it also has more classic and modern melodic progressive rock built into it. It's a strong tune. At times I can hear hints of Todd Rundgren for some reason, too. They take it to a rather fusion-like guitar based instrumental section later. That takes it to the end of the piece.
