Brian Johannesen Holster Your Silver Review by Gary Hill This album is packed full of strong songs. There are no tunes that miss the mark, but some really manage to stand out beyond the others. The music here leans along the lines of folk and country music with some other things in the mix, too. All in all, this is a particularly classy set. Track by Track Review

Somewhere Down The Line The intricate guitar arrangement on this makes me think of "Hotel California" a little. The music has a more gentle country approach to it, and the vocals add to that concept.

Copper Queen Rocking folk music is on the menu here. This is a killer tune that makes me think of John Flynn to some degree. There is some country music in the mix, especially due to the violin (or should I say "fiddle?").

Tired (Last Time I Saw Her) Folk music with some punky edges is the concept here. This is a rocking tune that's so much fun.

Way Back Down There Down-home country music that leans toward bluegrass is brought to the folk music concept here. This is a good bit of variety and a lot of fun.

If I Thought That I Could Win A balladic number, this still manages a moving kind of tempo. It's full on country music based, complete with pedal steel guitar.

Music Business Blues Breakdown This tune has a real hoedown vibe to it. There is a lot of energy and groove to the cut. It's a down-home country tune.

Damn These Saints A slow moving, mellower track, this is contemplative and moody. It's a tasty slab of Americana.

Fremont A high energy country music tune, this is a lot of fun. I really dig the hoe-down fiddle solo movement later.

Holster Your Silver The title track closes the set. This has plenty of classy folk music with hints of country built into it. It's a strong tune and great parting shot.
