Invisible Words

Review by Gary Hill

This is an album of solo piano works. I guess it's considered jazz, but I only get a minor jazz vibe from it. Still, I don't know where else it fits. Call it what you like, but it's a pleasant listening experience.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2021  Volume 6. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2021.

Track by Track Review
Invisible Words
Pretty piano is on the agenda as this gets going. In fact, this is a melodic and dramatic piano solo.
You're Next, Ladybug
There is a lot of appealing jazz built into this piano excursion. This covers quite a bit of territory and has some very classical music based moments.
Brightest Light
Another inventive and entertaining piano solo, this is a solid entry on the disc.
Breathing Altered Air
While there are no molds broken here, this is a moving sort of energy to this that helps it get a playful vibe that stands out.
Made Visible
With plenty of classical music here, this is another effective piano solo. I find it to have some of the most soaring and uplifting music of the album.
Lucia's Happy Heart
There is a gentle sense of happiness befitting the title of this piece.
The Hope Card
More expressive piano work is on the menu here.
Invisible Words for Linda
The closing piano solo seems to have a little sadness to it. It's slow moving and effective.
