Angie Goeke If I Were Honest Review by Gary Hill This is an intriguing and effective release. One constant throughout is Angie Goeke's voice. Stylistically this varies a good amount from song to song. There is a fairly wide dynamic range, too. It's all quality music delivered in a way that showcases a real commitment to the craft. Whether a particular song lands closer to folk music or jazz or something else, it always works. Track by Track Review

So I Pray Intricate folk music plays in the background. The vocals are gentle and pretty. This is classy, artsy and intriguing.

Leftovers Rag-time and jazz merge on this bouncy number. It's a lot of fun.

Whiskey In A Teacup Energetic and soulful, this has a lot of blues in the mix. The guitar work is all class, but so is everything else about this number. As strong as the previous two were, I think this is an upgrade.

If I Were Honest The title track comes in slower. It's very much a folk based cut, but it has a good energy to it despite its lower pace. This gets pretty powered up and a little crazed later.

Farewell Slow moving, folk based Americana music is on the menu here. It's an intriguing cut, but perhaps not at the level of some of the rest here.

Starlight Another slow and folk-like piece, this works well.

Fayetteville More energized, there is both folk rock and some hints of retro rock and roll in the mix on this piece. It's classy stuff and a nice change.

Fly Baby Fly Here we get another decidedly mellow piece.

Half A Mind More energized than the previous number, the folk music concepts are still in play here.

Floored There is an artsy vibe here along with plenty of folk rock music. This is a classy track that's one of the highlights here.
