Rebirth of Dissection DVD

Review by Gary Hill

Well, there aren't too many bands that go on hiatus while one of the members (in fact the main person behind the group) serves a sentence for murder, but that's exactly the case of Swedish death metal outfit Dissection. Jon Nodtveidt spent ten years in prison for murder and then when he was released in 2004 got the group back together. This DVD is a recording of their 2004 tour. It certainly captures the band in all their glory. The videography is solid as is the sound. The band put out a powerful helping of their own brand of dark sounds to an appreciative audience. The DVD includes a bonus music video, an interview and photo gallery. This one should be a must have for fans of the group, especially given the fact that they have now decided to call it quits.
