Albert Collins

Live At Montreux 1992 DVD

Review by Gary Hill

The Live at Montreux series is a pretty sure thing. These shows are always quite good in terms of audio and video production. This DVD of Albert Collins is no exception and in fact winds up well in the upper echelon of the DVD's. Collins was a great in the blues genre with few equals. Since cancer took him from the world a year after this show, he was basically at the top of his game here. We get some killer performances that show off his finger picking guitar style. The man was on fire and you get to see and hear all the incendiary results. As an added bonus, the folks at Eagle Eye have also given us four tracks recorded during Collins' 1979 Montreux appearance. All in all it's a killer DVD capturing some rousing blues from one of the masters. The definitely don't make them like this anymore.
