The Monochorme Set

M80 Concert DVD

Review by Gary Hill

What an interesting band this was. I have never heard of them before, but I love the blend of psychedlia, art rock and punk. This live show is from 1979. Watching the video you might think it’s from 1959, though. This is from the low-tech end of low-tech. It’s black and white and no frills with a lo-fi audio track. Somehow that’s fitting for this band. This isn’t for everyone, but for those who get it, it’s very cool. I’d love to hear more from this outfit. This is a killer show.
