Suzanne Vega

Live: Solitude Standing DVD

Review by Gary Hill

As far as I’m concerned there is something really magical about the music of Suzanne Vega. It’s clearly related to folk music, but it’s got more to it than that. It’s poetry set to music, but it exceeds that, too. There is a vulnerable nature to it, but it overcomes that, as well. The music might be hard to categorize, but it’s fun to explore. This live DVD showcases a wonderful live performance. The sound and video are both great. It’s as close to seeing Vega live without seeing her live. I’d highly recommend this to her fans and those who want to learn more. I love it.
