Peter, Paul and Mary

50 Years with Peter Paul and Mary DVD

Review by Gary Hill

In so many ways Peter Paul and Mary represented the spirit of the 1960s folk movement. Their music certainly captured it very well. As opposed to some of the folk music greats, they had voices that were great from a more polished point of view. Their harmonies and arrangements took it all to a new level. Then there was the activism. The folk music of the 1960s really was driven by the political movements of the time. This group really walked the walk in that regard. So, this retrospective from the start of the group really is an intriguing set. It has old interviews, newer ones, live footage and a lot more. If you've ever been a fan of this outfit, this comes highly recommended.
