Shihori

Soul Trip (music video)

Review by Gary Hill

This video is essentially one scene. It's a close-up glitzy video of the artist lip-synching the song. Via effects and cuts it is more changing and diverse than that, though. The video does fit the song and has a bit of an artsy edge while conveying more of a real pop dance kind of vibe.

You'll note I haven't talked about the song. That's because I already did that in my review of the digital single for the tune in the last issue of Music Street Journal. Here's what I said in that review.

I like the multiple layers of vocals on this. The cut has a lot of synthetic sound in the musical arrangement. It has a real EDM meets soul vibe - with the soul end of that equation dominating. This is an effective pop song.

This review is available in book (paperback and hardcover) form in Music Street Journal: 2020  Volume 6. More information and purchase links can be found at: garyhillauthor.com/Music-Street-Journal-2020.
