Canned Heat

Live At Rockpalast 1998 DVD/CD set

Review by Gary Hill

I have to admit to never really being a big fan of Canned Heat. I could always appreciate their contribution to music, and I like their stuff just fine. It's just not exactly my flavor. That said, this live for television show is quite strong. It really shows off the range of the band, showcasing different types of blues and even psychedelia and more. You get both a DVD of the show and an audio CD. I've always liked it when DVDs include both. I think it's a good bonus. Speaking of bonuses, other than a trailer, there are none here, but this is strong enough to stand alone without extras. Since this was filmed professionally for television, both the audio and video are quite high quality.
