Wetton Downes

Icon Acoustic TV Broadcast DVD

Review by Gary Hill

John Wetton and Geoff Downes playing in an intimate acoustic setting, how can you go wrong? From what I can tell, you can’t. These two guys are incredible musicians and the material (including a lot of Asia stuff) is top notch. Then when you add in Hugh McDowell (ELO) on cello the picture is truly complete. This is a great DVD offering and includes an interview segment and behind the scenes footage, among other things. I suppose I’d have to say that the interview is a bit hard to hear. Beyond that, though, I had no complaints with this release. Fans of Asia, Yes and King Crimson should eat this up.

This review is available in book format (hardcover and paperback) in Music Street Journal: 2006 Volume 5 at lulu.com/strangesound.
