“You’re So Wrong” Set for Digital Release on October 22nd
October 17th, 2012, Helsinki, Finland – Corvus Stone will be releasing a new single (their fourth) on October 22nd, a cover of the 1971 Black Widow song “You’re So Wrong.” There is a connection between Black Widow and Corvus Stone in that Colin Tench of Corvus Stone was in the band Odin with John Culley of Black Widow. That connection is reinforced on the single by the guest appearance of Culley. The song will be featured on the upcoming full Corvus Stone album. People who purchase the single (as with the previous single releases) will get the full album discounted by the purchase price.
Although the actual band Corvus Stone is a reasonably new outfit, the various members of the group have some notable musical pedigrees. Guitarist Colin Tench is known for his work in BunChakeze, Road to Avalon (featuring former Flower Kings drummer Zoltan Csörsz Jr.) and the Colin Tench Project. Petri Lemmy Lindström (bass) plays in Progeland and Saturn Twilight and was formerly in Lyijykomppania. Keyboardist Pasi Koivu has performed as a solo artist and with Psychedelic Eye. Drummer Robert Wolff was previously in Raven and Micah. For this new single, in addition to Culley, the band is joined by Blake Carpenter of Road to Avalon and Minstrel’s Ghost (vocals). At Examiner.com, Jordan Blum said of Corvus Stone, “If you haven’t heard this group yet, you certainly should.”
Blum also had some kind words for “You’re So Wrong”: “As for ‘You’re So Wrong’ (a cover of a Black Widow song), it’s equally impressive. Horns complement rich harmonies and simple but sublime choruses. Carpenter’s voice is full of smooth character that goes perfectly with the aesthetics of the music. As an added bonus, original Black Widow guitarist John Culley guests on it. Overall, it’s a catchy and calming track that any fan of the genre should enjoy.” In the upcoming issue of Music Street Journal, Larry Toering said, “This single is one awesome piece of work itself, and I happen to be enthralled with its beauty. From the lovely soothing piano intro that begins the eloquent number with a feather light approach that instantly grabs the listener and takes them into a majestic chorus of classic familiarity (like some kind of recurring dream), this is massively delicate yet so commanding. There is so much to be felt here it's immediately urgent to explore more of this band. It's great to finally hear something that moves me, and this is one thing that does. I'm instantly attracted to them through this single, and can't wait to delve into all that is Corvus Stone. This is truly magnificent!”
