ScienceNV Release Second New Album This Year
The Quest for Prester John Volume Two Released June 15th
June 21st, 2018, San Francisco, California – ScienceNV have just released a brand new album, The Quest for Prester John Volume Two. The first volume was released earlier this year. The two discs together represent a single concept album.
At Mondo Music Media, Larry Toering called the new disc, "a killer album that follows an equally remarkable effort on the first volume." In his review of the album at Music Street Journal, Greg Olma said, "Although I liked the first part, I feel The Quest For Prester John, Volume Two is the better of the two discs."
The first edition has been garnering good critical response since its release. At that same Mondo Music Media site, Toering called the first one, "a grand effort to progress beyond their own boundaries of the past." Reviewing the album at The Progressive Rock Files, Jerry Lucky said it "is more intense than much of their previous work, there is a lot to sink your teeth into musically, but it’s a very tasty listen well worth spending time with." At Music Street Journal Greg Olma said of the album, " it has more than its fair share of really good songs with the instrumental tunes and passages being the standout moments here...." The album "has many different elements ranging from jazz, rock, and even operatic vocals making for a very prog release. "
The first volume chronicled the initial centuries of the Prester John legend ("Eloise's Tale," "Above the Falls"). This second half picks up where the first left off, focusing more on the latter centuries ("Roderick's Tale," "Thirty Ethiopian Ambassadors") and appropriately closes with "The End of a Legend," a dramatic precision-prog tale.
Headquartered in San Francisco, California, ScienceNV was formed in 2005 by Larry Jay Davis (guitar and bass guitar), David Graves (keyboards), Jim Henriques (guitar and keyboards) and Rich Kallet (drums). ScienceNV released their debut album, Really Loud Noises in 2008. They followed that up with Pacific Circumstances in 2010. The Last Album Before the End of Time was released in 2013.
