There Is Hope Disaster Relief Is a Digital Release
Rockford, IL, November 13, 2012— Rockford, Illinois area musician G.W. Hill (in this case under the name “Gary Hill”) has donated his song “Quasar Suite” to There Is Hope: Disaster Relief. A digital album that features 31 songs, the set benefits Music For Relief (http://www.musicforrelief.org/), a charity set up specifically to render aid to those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The song comes from Hill’s album, Missile Hay Knee Us.
In his review of the album at Music Street Journal, Greg Olma said of the piece, “Instead of guitars, this keyboard heavy track picks up from ‘Warped Space’ and continues on for 11 minutes. Like the previous cut, this is a good tune to put on to relax. It is almost hypnotic.” The disc and song were originally released under the name “Gary Hill,” and that is name used on the compilation set. Since the original release, though, Hill started going by “G.W. Hill” (to avoid confusion with the video artist with whom he shares a name, so the newly reissued version of set is under that newer moniker.
G. W. Hill began playing music at age 15, starting on bass guitar. In addition to performing music, Hill is a published author (The Strange Sound of Cthulhu: Music Inspired by the Writing of H. P. Lovecraft and Strange Realities: The Collected Short Stories of Gary Hill) and a music journalist. Music currently available from Hill includes several recently reissued albums (Excursions, Earth: Part One, Earth: Part Two and Missile Hay Knee Us), a new compilation album Déjà Vu and a recently released digital single “The Music of Erich Zann.” That single is the first song recorded for the new Hill album in process. That disc is to be entitled, “Tales of Wonder and Dread.”
