ScienceNV’s Latest Album Is Earning Great Reviews
June 18th, 2013, San Francisco, California – Last Album Before the End of Time, the third album from California based band ScienceNV was released on April 30th. Since then, critics have been extolling the virtues of the disc. San Francisco, based band ScienceNV was formed in 2005 by Larry Davis (guitar and bass guitar), David Graves (keyboards), Jim Henriques (guitar and keyboards) and Rich Kallet (drums). ScienceNV released their debut album, Really Loud Noises in 2008. They followed that up with Pacific Circumstances in 2010. While progressive rock is often considered to be lacking in humor, ScienceNV have a funny side to them, as saying the name out loud reveals. The new album was recorded in high-definition audio.
At Neufutur, James McQuinston said, “…ScienceNV is a band that gets together as a labor of love rather than an occupation. The tracks on Last Album… reflect this as the band soars on guitar lines, complex synth sections, and precise drumming…What results on Last Album Before the End of Time is something that is utterly special and should be picked up by fans of progressive rock, hard rock, and experimental music alike…ScienceNV are an act that are looking to make big waves with their new album…”
“Wolf” at Mountain Weekly News had this to say about the disc: “The latest offering from ScienceNV, Last Album Before the End of Time, is a delicious blend of progressive rock, fusion, jazz and just plain, old tasty grooves and licks. Although the “space” theme is a bit overdone on the first cut Mars, the second track Chinatown, is as smooth and introspective as it gets. Molecular Super-Modeling is a good bit of jazz and a little bit of funk, turning into progressive-rock. And that’s a good description of ScienceNV, a fun group, reminiscent of Emerson, Lake and Palmer and YES. Everyone in the band is an accomplished musician, and their love of music shines through…By the time I was halfway through the album, I was hooked…If you like jazz and/or progressive-rock, this is definitely an album you want to get.”
At Music Emissions (musicemissions.com), Charles Martel said, “Rather than finding a formula and sticking to it, ScienceNV move across a range of styles within the overall template of what may be called prog rock and thereby provide sufficient diversity to keep the listener interested.” He also said, “I was surprised by this album and surprised myself in enjoying it. Normally, prog rock instrumentals bore me to tears, but there was enough in here to keep me occupied and entertained.”
