What If There Were No More New Years?
New Book Presents Apocalyptic Visions
December 2nd, 2021 Poplar Grove, Illinois – New Years comes with a promise of new opportunities to make a better world. What if there were no more New Years, though? The brand-new book "No More New Years: Tales of Apocalypse" presents a number of different visions of apocalypse, and a world with no more New Years.
"No More New Years" follows less than a month behind T.O.W.D.'s publication of "Horrifying Holidays: Holiday Spookfest," which presented Christmas based horror. Like that book, "No More New Years" brings contemporary fiction and classic fiction. While the previous book had one contemporary poem, the upcoming one has classic poetry joining the fiction. "No More New Years" includes two previously published, but modern, horror tales from Gary Hill, and one tale each from Heath D. Alberts, Adam R. Crump, Dustin Urness and Kevin Wood. Classic short stories from Edgar Allan Poe and Frank L. Pollack along with poems from Lord Byron (George Gordon), T. S. Eliot and Thomas Hood complete the book's content.
Founded in 2018, Poplar Grove based Tales of Wonder and Dread Publishing has released two-dozen books to date. All the T.O.W.D. books have a focus on science fiction, horror or generally macabre type subject matter. In addition to the previously mentioned "Horrifying Holidays," the most recent releases from T.O.W.D. to date were ""Relics, Remnants and Artifacts" (a collection of fiction and non-fiction works from Gary Hill) and "Spooky Stories," which is a collection that includes poetry, fiction and non-fiction.
Previously T.O.W.D. has published such titles as "Interstellar Journeys: A Collection of Space Travel Stories," "The Homestead," "Wizard Song," " Spooky Houses: Spooky Fiction and Non-fiction Homebound Tales." "Life Blood: A Collection of Vampire Stories," " Spectral Stories: A Collection of Ghost Tales," "Speculative Stories: A Collection of Science Fiction Tales," "Spirited Classics: A Collection of Timeless Ghost Stories" and " Temporal Journeys: A Collection of Time Travel Stories." They have also published a series of four photo heavy books on Rockford, Illinois cemeteries titled "Rockford's Final Resting Places," with another due later.
Gary Hill has been publishing "Music Street Journal" since 1998. In August of 2006 his first book "The Strange Sound of Cthulhu: Music Inspired by the Writings of H.P. Lovecraft" was published. Since then several other books have been released. Hill launched Spooky Ventures in 2019. Hill recently launched some "Put the Spooky Back Into Christmas" merchandise through Spooky Ventures at CafePress.com/Spookyventures. In 2019 Hill began a series of books under the Music Street Journal banner focused on the Rockford, Illinois music scene titled, "Music Street Journal Local: Rockford Area Music Makers" that features photography from Rockford resident Eric Meli.
