Charity Album for Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter Nominated for RAMI Award
Disc in the Running for Album of the Year
Mach 31st, 2015, Rockford, Illinois – For the Love of Dog…And Cat is one of several albums in the running for Album of the Year at the RAMI Awards. The RAMI awards are presented by the Rockford Area Music Industry. The awards ceremony this year (the 24th Annual) will be held at the Tebala Shrine Center at 7910 Newburg Road on Friday, April 24, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Awards will be presented in over 25 categories. There will be eight live performances at the event, too.
The charity album features sixteen songs from several Rockford, Illinois area musicians. All music was donated by the artists and all the cover photographs (also by Rockford area photographers) have been donated. All profits from the album go directly to Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary. The album is currently available in CD format at https://www.createspace.com/2248385.
Noah's Ark Pet Sanctuary was founded and incorporated as an Illinois Non-Profit corporation in 1978 by a small group of residents who care about animals. One of their goals is to educate the public on the proper care and population control of domestic dogs and cats. They take in stray and owner surrender cats and dogs. Once at the sanctuary the animals receive proper medical care and are put up for adoption into qualified homes for a nominal fee.
In a review at Music Street Journal, Jason Hillenburg said of the album, “Charity albums, unfortunately, can often mean well, but lack any sort of lasting musical value. Artists dig up previously discarded tracks, others rehash well-known material, but this album forgets to tread water in the musical quality. Instead, this impressive assortment of musicians offers the listener a wide variety of material that, irrespective of genre, sounds fresh and motivated.”
Giving the disc four stars (of five) at Music Emissions (musicemissions.com), SolitaryMan said, “Recently commisioned and compiled, For The Love Of Dog...And Cat is a collection of local artists' musical donations to the cause. All proceeds will go to Noah's Ark beyond the costs of delivering the product to those who choose to invest in a worthwhile cause.” He continued, “As it is with such compilations, the styles and moods of this disc vary widely, but create an intriguing portrait of a local scene. Predominantly made up of tracks from a handful of artists and bands, For The Love Of Dog...And Cat offers many perspectives driven behind one common goal….As a collection of music, the record has excellent flow, a true credit to Mr. Hill's compiling and recruiting efforts as much as each individual musician's abilities…This record lives up to its name, and delivers where it counts. All involved are to be commended for the effort, and anyone who makes a donation towards the cause can count themselves amongst them.”
The Rockford area musicians featured on the album are: Casey Carl Bunge, Clark Colborn, Paul Hieser, G.W. Hill, Sean Huguenin, Kris Orendorff, P-H-M with Wade Lammon and Sonicbloom. The cover and other packaging was designed by Eric Meli and features photographs by Meli, G.W. Hill and Kris Orendorff.
